Take care of your LAPTOP

7 Steps To Take Care Of Your Laptop Computer

How to keep your Laptop Computer in the best possible condition? Try these7 Steps To Take Care Of Your Laptop
Computer
1.keep it cool
A laptop computer generates a lot of heat, especially when equip with the latest top performance Video card.
Too much heat and you risk damaging the internal circuitry.

Keep your laptop in a well-ventilated, cool environment. And ensure you don't block the fan grills on the sides,
back, or bottom of the laptop at any time.

2.Handle the screen carefully
Avoid touching or playing with your LCD screen. Yes, it might be fun to watch the waves generated by your
finger against the screen, but LCD displays are fragile devices that must be cared for.
Take care when cleaning the screen too, and use only approved cleaning materials.

3.Don't drop it
Whatever you do, don't through your laptop and don't drop your laptop computer! Keep it safe inside of
a carrying case when moving around or traveling.
Don't leave it on the edge of a table or on an unstable support of some kind.
One ill fated drop to the floor could spell death for your mobile office.

Try to make sure the rubber feet underneath are in good condition and are still attached.
This will prevent the device from sliding around accidentally.

4.Be careful with those drinks...
If you need to have a drink while using your laptop, be careful not to spill it.
Your laptop computer could suffer the consequences from just a few drops of liquid poured in the right places.
While you probably do eat and drink around it regardless, try to occasionally wipe down the edges, the keyboard,
the touchpad, and maybe even wipe down the screen
to keep any dirt from accumulating.

4.Keep caution to viruses
Security wise, make sure you obtain an anti-virus program. Secondly, keep it updated!
Install an anti-virus one month and not updating it for the next six really negates it purpose.
Your laptop computer could be exposed to hundreds and thousands of new viruses
every month if you don't update your virus definitions.
Most anti-virus programs have automatic update methods, eliminating the need for you to have to remember to do it manually.

5.Avoid Spywave.
Pop-ups are particularly annoying on a laptop computer. Trying to close a bunch of windows without
a regular mouse can be a nuisance.
You'll need a pop-up blocker, such as the Google Toolbar (located at http://tools.google.com),t
o prevent these pop- up ads.

Many intrusive forms of advertising, and even some viruses, can install software on your machine by using
various forms of pop-ups.
It's best to get yourself a blocker and avoid
the situation entirely.

6.Use a firewall

Always utilize a firewall on your Internet or network- enabled laptop computer. Even if you use
Windows XP's built- in firewall (or purchase one from such companies as Norton),
your security will greatly benefit from it.

Blocking out all the unnecessary ports and closing all the loopholes will prevent a hacker or virus
from freely entering your hard drive.

7.Don't try to fix it on your own
If anything goes wrong ,don't try to open the laptop casing and try to fix it blindly.Leave it to the professional.
You could end up with damaging other part of your laptop if you're unsure what and how to do.

Salted HARD DISK

Their new manufacturing process, involving simple sodium chloride, can boost the capacity of computer hard disks by six times.
The discovery was made by Singapore's national research institution the Agency for Science Technology and Research, in collaboration with the National University of Singapore and the Data Storage Institute.
The agencies have "developed a process that can increase the data recording density of hard disks to 3.3 Terabits per square inch, six times the recording density of current models", they said in a statement.
The addition of sodium chloride to the manufacturing process meant the pattern of bits – units of information – on the surface of each magnetic disk was neater, allowing more to be crammed in.
The salt improved the resolution of the electron beam used to “print” the bits.
"It can give you a very high contrast. We are now able to see fine lines that would normally be blurred out," said Dr Joel Yang, the scientist who led the development.
"Otherwise you can try your best to pattern these bits very closely but they will all end up being gigantic blurred out blobs.”
According Dr Yang, the new process could be commercialised by 2016, "when the current techniques run out of fuel and (hard drive manufacturers) need to find alternate methods" of increasing data storage space.

3D printing: Solar Sinter

5. Solar Sinter

Solar Sinter
When you watch this video, and get past the cute, tongue-in-cheek set up, you’ll start to “feel the future” in what Markus Kayser’s team has put together—even if its shot, literally, in the middle of nowhere. Kayser has designed a 3D printer that is, more or less, completely self-sufficient. The power is wrought from photovoltaic cells and refocused beams of light for melting. The materials are drawn entirely from the rather abundant sand around him.
Though the two demonstrations are a crude, modern art-looking sculpture and a very rough bowl, one can sense how with refinement, this set-up could eventually be used to yield tools for those in very distant corners of the globe. Though, Kayser is clear that he’s not directing any particular line of thinking with the project, just providing a thought pill.
“Solar-sintering aims to raise questions about the future of manufacturing and trigger dreams of the full utilization of the production potential of the world’s most efficient energy resource - the sun,” says Kayser’s Vimeo page. “Whilst not providing definitive answers this experiment aims to provide a point of departure for fresh thinking.”

Laptops student can buy

No two people, it seems, want the same thing from the good old laptop. Someone wants good battery, some want ultra-portability, some want a multimedia powerhouse. Perhaps, the students are the least demanding of this lot! What they are looking for is a mixture of performance and portability, blended in an affordable price point.

Here is what they can buy, be it for school or college.

Samsung R- series NP-RV509-A06IN
Rs 27000 approx

Pretty well loaded for an entry-level laptop. Intel Core i5 @ 2.66GHz, 3GB RAM, 15.6-inch display and a 500GB hard drive, but doesn’t come preloaded with an OS. Maybe Linux is the way to go? Or just get a Windows 7 installation.

HP Pavilion G4-1008TU
Rs 32000 approx

Not the best-looking laptop around, by far, and doesn’t carry the sleekness of some of the rivals. But does the job it has been made to do, with a pretty powerful package. An Intel Core i5 processor @2.66GHz, 3GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, and for the extra bit of money (as compared to the Samsung R- series), this one has the 64-bit Windows 7 Home Basic pre-loaded. Has a 15.6-inch display.

Dell Inspiron 13z
Rs 39000

The New Inspiron 13z does make for a good machine. This one is powered by the second generation Intel Core i3 processor clocking at 2.20GHz, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB but a 7200rpm hard drive and a more portable 13.3-inch display. He build quality is also slightly better then the other two we have mentioned before this one. But then again, as you move up the price chain, this is bound to happen.

HP Pavilion dv6- 3050TX
Rs 51000

This is where we are getting into the higher end of the pack. The HP Pavilion dv6 looks and feels the part. The aluminum finish and the glossy colours do lend it quite a bit of sparkle. The power package is pretty solid as well- Intel Core i7 @ 1.6GHz, 4GB RAM, 640GB hard drive, ATi Mobility Radeon HD5650 (1GB) graphics and 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium pre-loaded.

Apple MacBook AirStarting at Rs 56,900

This is the slimmest laptop around. The updated versions have received the Intel Core i5 processors and upgraded the flash storage as well. Available in 11-inch and 13-inch versions, but both are extremely lightweight and portable. You will probably end up buying these if you are an Apple fanboy, or just need a laptop that is as slim and light as that notepad on your desk.
